Experian QAS study reveals prevalence of real-time address verification increasing among top online retailers
New report provides tips for accurate capture of mailing and email address data during online checkout
Boston, Mass., Jan. 11, 2012 — Experian® QAS®, a part of Experian Marketing Services and a leading provider of address verification software and services, today released a new benchmark report on the data quality practices of top online retailers. The report reveals that 72 percent of the top 100 retailers are using some form of address verification during online checkout.
“Year over year, we are seeing the incidence of real-time address verification growing among retailers,” said Thomas Schutz, senior vice president, general manager of Experian QAS. “While this growth is encouraging, retailers now need to focus on accurately capturing not only mailing address, but also other forms of contact data vital to marketing and business success.”
This third annual benchmark report enables retailers to compare their online verification practices to those of industry leaders. This year’s report also provides tips for accurately capturing email addresses, a continuously growing data point for retailers. These tips include: 1) gain a better understanding of email databases; 2) clean existing inaccurate emails; and 3) validate new emails as they are being entered.
